Rob McDaniel is the general manager and executive chef at SpringHouse restaurant at Russell Crossroads on Lake Martin in Alabama.

After graduating from Auburn University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management, Rob studied at the New England Culinary Institute. During his time at NECI, Rob began to appreciate sustainable living and cooking, supporting local and organic farmers, and the importance of using local resources.

SpringHouse, which opened in 2009, has allowed Rob to express his love for sustainable southern food and the preservation of its methods. Food has a story, and Rob loves telling that story equally to cooking it.

Rob was a contender in the Food Network's Iron Chef competition in February 2012, and was honored as Auburn University's 2012 Outstanding Hotel and Restaurant Management Alumnus. In 2013 and 2014, he was selected as a James Beard Award "Best Chef: South" semifinalist. He and SpringHouse were mentioned in Zagat's "7 Up-and-coming food cities around the U.S." and made Southern Living's list of "100 Places to Eat Now". McDaniel was recently selected to represent the state of Alabama in the tenth Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans and was chosen to serve dinner to hundreds at the United Nations for the 25th International Quality of Life Award.
